'Marvel's Luke Cage' Character and Plot Rumors: Netflix Series To Feature Diamondback as Villain

New character and plot rumors have emerged pointing out to Netflix's upcoming Marvel superhero show, "Luke Cage," which will be headlined by "The Following" star, Mike Colter.

Citing the report from Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzalez, IGN.com wrote that the series, which will be comprised of 13 episodes, will feature Willis Stryker as the titular hero's nemesis.

HH added that the character, who is better known in the comics as Diamondback, was initially proposed to be the main villain in a cancelled 2004 "Luke Cage" movie project.

As further divulged by Gonzalez, Cage and Stryker were close during their childhood days and had both fallen for the same woman, Reva Connors.

The media outlet said that Connors was close to Luke and Willis but was, later on, responsible for their indifference.

Frustrated that he couldn't win Reva's affections, Diamondback opted to frame Cage in a drug deal that sends him to prison. HH pointed out their previous report about a guy nicknamed Cottenmouth who was heard to join the series and it appears that the character in question is working for Diamondback.

Gonzalez noted that the character and plot breakdown are still unconfirmed and could still change.

For the uninitiated, Luke Cage was revealed to be a former gang member framed by his friend to a crime he didn't commit. During his incarceration, he volunteered for a medical experiment. An accident happened during the procedure.

The unfortunate event eventually gave Luke "super strength and bulletproof skin." Armed with his newfound powers and abilities, he managed to break free from prison. Outside, he does heroic deeds for a fee.

Netflix's "Luke Cage" is slated to commence its production this September in New York City. The character, meanwhile, is expected to appear first in the small screen via the streaming service's upcoming series "Jessica Jones" which is coming out later this year.
