Mass Effect 4 Release Date: Still Years Away, Race Selection a Possibility?

The original Mass Effect trilogy by BioWare was one of the better games in the last decade, albeit with a not so well-accepted Mass Effect 3 ending. Although the company has confirmed that a fourth Mass Effect title is currently under development, the game is still years away from release as developers are committed to making the next game as good as they can make it.

Still, BioWare didn't want to leave their fans hanging so during the San Diego Comic Con a few months ago, the producers and developers of the game held a panel to answer most of fan's lingering questions. There's already the known fact that Mass Effect 4 will have a completely different storyline that has nothing to do with the original trilogy.

Fans have already been putting out lists of things they expect for the next Mass Effect title and one of those was the option to choose the character's race. One of the producers, Mike Gamble, has mentioned during the panel that "in terms of other playable races we can't talk about that at this point." It wasn't confirmed but Gamble didn't outright deny the possibility either so race selection might be a thing in Mass Effect 4.

As for the alien races players can expect to see in Mass Effect 4, there are speculations that the Turians and the Asari may return to the title. During the sneak peek at the Electronic Entertainment Expo earlier this year, a Krogan was spotted meaning we could be seeing more of them in the next title.

Recently, Gamble posted a tweet saying, "I've never seen salarians look so damn good." This has also probably hinted at the possibility that Salarians will also be returning to the series title.
