'Massive' Beyonce Statue Gets Green Light From City Of Houston, Fans React

Plans to build a "Beyonce" monument in honor of the singer have received a nod from the mayor of Houston.

Armdeonce Ventures, a private company behind the idea, plans to create a statue for 30-year-old Beyonce Knowles in the Bayou City, which will showcase her many achievements.

"Our biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people why they're still here? We felt as though it's her time to be honored," Marcus Mitchell, who is partially behind the idea told MY Fox Houston.

"We wanted to construct, like, a massive hall so as the doors open. There will be clips of Beyonce with Destiny's Child and wardrobe like a mini museum," Mitchell added.

Beyonce, one of the most renowned names in the music industry, is originally from Houston and appears to be so popular in her hometown that the mayor has reportedly backed the idea of an honorary monument for the new Mom.

"We've gotten support from the city of Houston, from the mayor. We're waiting for a very nice letter from the mayor right now," Mitchell said.

The company is said to be in the process of fundraising for the Grammy award-winning artist's proposed statue, even offering incentives for those who donate.

"If you donated to the monument, you'll have a separate nameplate," Mitchell explained.

After news of the monument for the singer broke, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter and while the response was overwhelmingly positive some critics have questioned the idea.

"What has BEYONCE done to deserve a monument??? Construct World Peace, Fight in Iraq, Fight for jobs, I mean what??" Tezzie Johnson tweeted.

"Not a Beyonce monument though.....I'm sure there are other ways to benefit society," Danielle tweeted.

"Uh, I love Beyonce and all but a statue? Really?" George tweeted.

Many others tweeted their excitement about the proposed statue, with one user expressing a more humorous opinion.

"They're building a statue of Beyonce in Houston. I just want to know if it's built yet, so I know when I can start praying to it," MT Tweeted.

The statue is expected to be unveiled on Sept. 4 which is also the singer's birthday.
