'Masters of Sex' Season 4 Update: Masters and Johnson Rebuild Relationship; Ginny Will Not Marry Dan

Some juicy details on 'Masters of Sex' Season 4 have been revealed by the stars themselves at the TCA.

A few important things about Season 4 of "Masters of Sex" have already been made known prior to its premiere next month. First, a time jump will allow the viewers to see a change in the dynamics between Bill and Virginia. Being based on the real-life story of researchers Masters and Johnson, it is already known that the TV characters are not going to be separated for long.

Season Premiere Synopsis

The synopsis for "Freefall", the season premiere episode, says that before the two characters even think of reconciling, Bill and Virginia will have to spend some time apart to realize how terrible their lives would be if they do not have each other. Ginny will find herself alone for the first time since marrying Bill. However, she discovers unexpected allies along the way.

While apart, Masters and Johnson will each search for a purpose in the world, at the time their personal lives are crashing down before them. The show's new slogan for the next season says that Bill and Ginny have "found their groove". Aside from giving a nod to the era they live in, it also refers to both of them finding success in their careers and in their relationship.

Estrangement and Reunion

The third season of the Showtime drama ended bitterly for the couple. Bill was slapped with not only a pedophilia lawsuit, but also with a prostitution charge. Meanwhile, Ginny packed her bags and fled with perfumer Dan Logan. Several spoilers for the new season of "Masters of Sex" that are coming to light reveal, however, that the estranged couple is looking to be reunited. Season 4, in fact, will show how the relationship of the pair will be rekindled.

Juicy Details About Season 4

On Thursday, Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, who play Bill and Ginny, respectively, together with the show's showrunner Michelle Ashford provided some Season 4 juicy details during a panel at the Television Critics Association (TCA).

Sheen explained that Bill had reached rock bottom in terms of his life and career. He already lost his wife and is also being accused of pedophilia and prostitution. However, he will strangely gain some new perspective at the low point he's in.

Finally, the same panel said that Virginia and Dan will not end up marrying each other even with the sweet proposal of Dan last season. Caplan explained that like all men, Dan became very obsessed with Ginny and fixated only on a certain part of who she is. The actress added that Bill is the only man who knows Ginny in her entirety but still loves her greatly regardless.

Season 4 of "Masters of Sex" airs on September 11, Sunday, 10 p.m. on Showtime.
