'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' First Trailer Shows a New World Outside the Maze

It's finally here, Fox unveiled this week the first trailer for "The Maze Runner" sequel, "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" and it featured a whole new different kind of world outside the Glades.

"I think it's safe to say the maze trials were a complete success," a female voiceover is heard in the trailer. "It's too soon to say, but they could be the key to everything. It's time now to begin phase two."

The promo video then featured Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and company coming face to face with new characters in a post-apocalyptic, barren world. And one of the people who lead them inside what appears to be humanity's last fortress is "Game of Thrones" star Aiden Gillen.

Amidst the relatively comfortable life the shelter had offered, the ever-curious Thomas probed the area and found some issues that forced him and the others to leave its safety.

"The Maze was one thing, but you kids wouldn't last one day out in the Scorch," Gillen's character warned the young adults.

For those who missed it, here's the official synopsis for the upcoming movie:

"In this next chapter of the epic 'Maze Runner' saga, Thomas and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD's vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all."

"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is scheduled to premiere this Sept. 18 and will once again see the acts of Kaya Scodelario as Teresa, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt and Ki Hong Lee as Minho.

Among the new actors joining the cast list are Giancarlo Esposito, Lili Taylor, Patricia Clarksn, and Barry Pepper.
