Meagan Good Talks Hollywood Stereotypes, Life as a Preacher's Wife

Meagan Good, "Think Like a Man" actress who recently married Seventh-day Adventist preacher and Hollywood executive DeVon Franklin, opened up about the power of God and being stereotyped after taking on promiscuous roles.

In an interview featured in Upscale magazine, the soon-to-be 31-year-old actress opened up about having to show another side of herself to directors who thought she gave off too much sex appeal.

"There were a couple times where the director said 'We really like you, but you're a little bit too sexy.' And I'm like, 'Well, what do I need to do? Wear a turtleneck,'" Good revealed. "You know, loose-fitting clothes?' And they're like 'Nah, it's just something that you give off.'"

However, Good said she may be stereotyped because of work she did in the past.

"I don't know that I necessarily believe that," Good told the magazine. "I believe that people, when they have a preconceived notion of who you are, and things you've done in the past, sometimes they forget that as an actor you're able to shut off whatever you need to shut off, and you're able to turn on whatever you need to turn on."

Still the actress is not giving others the power to let their opinions of her determine who she is. She described her definition of power when speaking to the publication.

"My definition of power is being able to move, and live, and do the things that you aspire to do and that you believe are part of your purpose to do, without letting other people's opinions or judgements manipulate your direction, without getting discouraged when a door closes, and just kinda having a good sense of self, and knowing who you are, and being strong in your walk with God," Good told Upscale. "All of that, to me, is what power is."

While the actress is currently working on her new NBC dramatic series "Infamous," she was recently married and has no qualms about sharing her love of Franklin. Unlike some people who have judged the actress on her past roles, Good said her bond with Franklin is different.

"..We just get each other, we don't judge each other. He understands me," Good revealed. "His love has brought a lot of healing to a lot of areas that have been really painful for me."

Still, Good admitted that being a preacher's wife has been something of an adjustment.

"Being with someone who is a preacher as well, people tend to try to sensationalize everything you do," she admitted. "So that's definitely been a different experience for me…"

However, Good said her husband's love for the Lord is the thing that makes him most attractive to her.

"To me there's nothing sexier than a man that loves the Lord," she said. "I can't imagine anything more attractive."
