Meet the Largest Dog in Britain, a 7'4 Great Dane Who Eats $140 in Food a Week (VIDEO)
Freddy the Great Dane was the runt of the litter, but then he hit a growth spurt for the ages. The colossal canine now measures 7 feet, 4 inches and is believed to be Great Britain's largest dog. Freddy's owner Claire Stoneman also cares for his sister Fleur.
Housing the 18-month-old giant brings Claire attention as well as a hefty grocery bill to feed him. The 38-year-old taxi driver from Leigh-on-Sea, Essex estimates she spends an average of $140 a week on his diet, which consists of:
- 8 large cans of dog food
- 12 pounds of tripe
- 12 pounds of minced chicken
- 4 roast chickens
Despite the challenges that come with managing one large dog and one really large dog, Claire finds the work to be completely worth it.
"They're my life. They're my babies," she says. "… Everything I do revolves around the dogs."
