Mega Millions Scam via E-mail

There have been reports that people have been receiving e-mails about winning Mega Millions. According to the organization's official website, unless the individual has purchased a ticket from a direct lottery, then the e-mail is not to be trusted and is therefore a scam.

Scammers will use various avenues of communications to get in touch with their potential victims. E-mailing is only one way, they may also phone the victim as well. They try to extort money by telling the excited victim of their Mega Millions winnings. However, before the individual get their "winnings," the scammers try to get a "fee" or procure personal information including bank accounts to steal from them.

Fake lottery scams have become rampant nowadays but scammers are still victimizing more and more people each day, especially the elderly. Suspected activities and suspicious persons can be reported to the police. For more information, the local lottery will receive questions via phone calls.
