How to Play Mega Millions
Playing the Mega Millions lottery is as easy as picking six numbers - five to represent the white balls and one more for the gold Mega ball. Each ticket costs $1 and the Megaplier option costs an additional $1.

The Mega Millions drawing are done twice a week every Tuesday and Friday at 11PM. The numbers are picked from two separate containers of numbers. The first five numbers are drawn from a pool of white colored balls numbered from 1 to 75. The gold Mega ball is drawn from a separate pool with numbers labeled 1 to 15. The jackpot is won by matching all the numbers.

For tickets that did not match all the numbers but matched some, there are corresponding prizes for it as there are nine ways to win in the Mega Millions. The highest non-jackpot prize is $1 million which can be won by matching all five white balls. This can also be multiplied via the Megaplier option. Other non-jackpot prizes are $5,000, $500, $50, $5, $2 and $1. All non-jackpot prizes have the chance to be multiplied by the Megaplier if the player has paid an extra $1 for it along with their ticket cost.
