Melissa Gilbert and actor Timothy Busfield have gotten engaged, according to reports on Wednesday.
Best known for her role as Laura Ingalls Wilder on "Little House on the Prairie," Gilbert has been married twice before. The 48-year-old shares one son with ex-husband Bo Brinkman and another son with former husband of 16 years Bruce Boxleitner.
Gilbert also appeared in television films such as "The Diary of Anne Frank" and "The Miracle Worker," and more recently, the actress competed on the reality television series "Dancing With The Stars."
Meanwhile, it will also be Busfield's third marriage; the "Thirtysomething" actor was previously married to Redha Delmarter and Jenny Meriwin.
"They got engaged over the holidays," said a source close to Gilbert and Busfield speaking to Us Weekly. "They've known each other for quite some time, as their paths have crossed off-and-on over the past 20 years."
Gilbert joins several other celebrities preparing for a walk down the aisle this year. HBO's "The Sopranos" star Jamie-Lynn Sigler announced Monday that she was engaged to baseball player Cutter Dykstra via Twitter.
"Thank you so much for all the love everyone," Sigler told her Twitter followers. "I am so happy and more importantly lucky!"
Also, Olivia Wilde recently confirmed reports that she and Jason Sudeikis are engaged.
After a long courtship, the "Saturday Night Live" star popped the question to Wilde with a large diamond ring shortly after the holidays, according to People magazine.
"They are so excited, and very, very happy," a source close to the couple told the magazine.
Wilde received an outpouring of support from fans on Twitter following the engagement news, for which she was grateful.
"Thanks for all the sweet congratulatory love, friends," wrote the actress to her followers. "And may I compliment your savvy use of that nifty engagement ring emoticon."
Academy Award-winning actress Marisa Tomei also became engaged to "Prometheus" star Logan Marshall Green over the holidays.
