Melissa McCarthy, who received a nomination for "Best Supporting Actress" at the Oscars has received critical review over her red carpet appearance.
The actress was nominated for her appearance as Megan in "Bridesmaids." She arrived with co-star husband Ben Falcone in a Marina Rinaldi gown. The gown was blush colored, with a jeweled collar that wrapped around her neck.
"My dear, dear friend Brian Atwood made my lovely handbag and fantastic shoes for me and wrote a message to me on the bottom," McCarthy told Seacrest with tears growing in her eyes. The inscription read 'to my best friend Melissa McCarthy,' followed by Oscars and the date. "We've been dear friends since high school. I read the [note] and started crying."
Kelly Osbourne gave the actress' gown a positive review. "I am so excited to see how good she looks tonight," Osbourne said on E! Live. "She changed it up completely and the color on her is great, the beadwork is great. It makes me so happy to see her looking so beautiful."
Twitter users were not as supportive of McCartney's blush gown, however. "I hope Melissa McCarthy's Stylist is out of a job," Drew Elliot wrote on Twitter.
"I don't like Melissa McCarthy's dress," Crissle Beyincé wrote.
Some Twitter users defended the actress and argued that it didn't matter what McCartney wore. "Tweeps, stop hating on Melissa McCarthy's dress. Her Oscar moment is major. She could wear a garbage bag and she'd STILL kill it!" Heather Catania wrote.
Other Twitter users also seemed less concerned by what McCartney was wearing. "I love Melissa McCarthy's real emotion on the red carpet #Oscars! It brings back the glamour of really "making it" in Hollywood," Katie Schmidt added, paying little attention
McCartney herself however, has said that she cares a great deal about fashion. The actress, who graduated with a fashion degree, also has plans to release a new fashion line in the coming year.
