Memphis vs St Mary's takes place in the NCAA 2013 on Thursday in the men's basketball second round of games for March Madness. Tip off is scheduled for 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
The No. 6 seeded Memphis Tigers will be hoping to make the third round of the tournament today by knocking out the No. 11 St mary's Gaels. Memphis fans will be expecting the win here today - they are the Conference USA champions for the 7th time in the last 8 years, and are brimming with confidence.
The Tigers went 30-4 over the regular season, which included a perfect record of 16-0 in their conference. Memphis are hot favorites to go through today, however, they will remember falling to lower seeded opposition last year when they were knocked out by 9th seeds Saint Louis in the second round. This year's team will be hoping to wipe away the memories of that heartbreaking 61-54 loss, and go all the way this year.
Meanwhile their opposition today is No. 11 seeds, the St Mary's Gaels, who won their first round game against Middle Tennessee State on Tuesday night in a confident 67-54 win.
That impressive result sees them come up against the Tigers in the second round, who are likely to be a much tougher prospect than MTS.
In that first round game, guard Matthew Dellavedova scored 22 points, and he will be another big player for today's game.
St Mary's had a good season, coming into this tournament with a record of 27-6, and a record of 14-2 in the West Coast Conference. That saw them finish second only behind Gonzaga in the conference.
Memphis will have to be careful today, as St Mary's are on a good streak - undefeated in 2013 against all opposition barring Gonzaga so far. The last time they lost to anyone else was way back on Dec. 27
