Mercy Ministries of America celebrates their 20-year anniversary with a special concert celebration that will take place on May 1, 2003 at Nashville’s famous Grand Ole Opry House. Award-winning artists Amy Grant, Vince Gill, CeCe Winans, Point of Grace, Jonathan Pierce, Darlene Zschech, and surprise special guests will come together for a special night honoring Mercy Ministries and the impact it has had in both the Nashville community and abroad.
Founded in 1983 by Nancy Alcorn, Mercy Ministries of America is an international, non-profit outreach to troubled young women between the ages of 13 and 28 who struggle with eating disorders, addictions, unplanned pregnancies, abuse, and other issues. Mercy provides a free loving environment where mercy triumphs over judgment and broken lives are lovingly put back together.
“It is hard for me to believe 20 years have passed since the first girl walked through the doors of Mercy,” Nancy Alcorn, founder and president of Mercy Ministries for America said. “Back then, I had no idea that in 2003, 20 years later, we would have several Mercy homes across this nation and even internationally.”
Twenty years and many miracles later, plans are underway for Mercy Ministries to open residential programs in other cities across the United States, including St. Louis, Houston, Los Angeles, and near Washington, DC Mercy Ministries is also expanding internationally, recently establishing Mercy Ministries Australia in Sydney and Queensland, as well as Mercy Ministries United Kingdom in England.
“We are so excited to be celebrating what has been accomplished, but more importantly, we want to cast the vision for those things yet to be accomplished. Thankfully, many lives have been transformed, but in our hearts, we know that this is only the beginning,” Alcorn said.
