Merge Postpones Stacie Orrico CD; Artist Uses Extra Time to Aid Africa

The newest album release from Dove award-winning Stacie Orrico has been postponed until further notice, according to a recent letter sent to Stacie Orrico Online - a fan site dedicated to the artist.

The CD, Beautiful Awakening, was planned to have already been out in stores by now, but because of a merger by her label, Virgin Records, with Capitol Records, Orrico would not be able to release her album properly.

"It's so common in the record business right now, but albums and artists often get lost in the shuffle, and they don't get the attention needed to have a good release and successful run," explained the cross-over female vocalist in the letter.

Over all the confusion, Orrico has decided to leave her label and has opted to find one that will better meet her vision and passion.

"I have poured so much into the Beautiful Awakening project and want to make sure that it is released at the right time and finds its home with the right label," she said in the letter. "I know it seems like it's taking an eternity, but I so fully trust that God is in control and that this is all happening for a reason."

Despite the problems, the Grammy-nominated singer, who turned 21 last Saturday, is still positive about the situation, noting that she is not stressed and will use the time to do something she has always wanted to – to help out in Africa.

She will now be moving to the continent for a few months to help children infected with AIDS. To make an impact, she will be attempting to auction off many of her past possessions, including clothes from her Japan tour, Grammy dresses, signed merchandise, and more to raise funds for the relief project. All this will be done on the Stacie Orrico Online fan site at www.stacieorrico.org.

"Statistics say that 50% of the children under the age of 15 will die in the next 10 years from this ghastly disease, and I am ready to go help fight the fight first hand," noted the soloist. "There is so much to be done and the need is so great!"

Orrico has had a successful career with her first two albums, Genuine (2000) and Stacie Orrico (2003), including awards from the Gospel Music Association (GMA), the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, USA (ASCAP), and Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) as well as a Grammy nomination.

The new album, Beautiful Awakening, is expected to have equal success.

"[The new songs] reflect a time that is really joyful and where love has been a part of my life," described the singer on her website. "Whereas in the past my music arose from a place that was a lot rougher emotionally."
