Metroid Game Leaked: Reappearing in another form?

Metroid Wii U and Metroid 3DS fans were hopeful. News that a prototype for the Metroid game was being developed by a Spanish firm leaked out. However, like many other Metroid game projects, this too might fizzle out.

It seems that Spanish game developer MercurySteam had pitched an idea to Nintendo. This idea was about creating a new game for the Metroid series. The game was to be an eight-player one, including the Samus Aran character, and would have a first-person view. But Nintendo was just not interested and the Metroid game was put in cold storage.

This does spell disappointment for Metroid fans as they might have to admit that there is no upcoming Metroid game from the original franchise universe as of now, even with the discovery of a prototype.

Or maybe MercurySteam, who had developed the "Castlevania Series," might put its energies into developing the Metroid series in a new way and rebranding it into something better for fans waiting for it.

The company had cryptically announced on its official website a new game with the words, "Exploring new worlds, fighting strange new creatures, discovering new heroes. Expect news soon." Could this be the revamped Metroid Game?

In the meantime, during this year's E3 event, Nintendo released a trailer of a new game called, "Metroid Prime Federation Force." The trailer begins with a spaceship dropping off four men with red, yellow, blue and green masks unto an alien planet. One has to look very closely as the person with the green mask is hardly noticeable at the back of the group. A caption flashes and says, "4-player co-op missions in the Metroid Prime Universe." A little later, the words "Metroid Prime Blast Ball" is also flashed on the screen as being included in the game so it can be assumed that this Blast Ball is some type of sports game and features 3 vs. 3 sci-fi sports battles. Although some Metroid fans might be against the release of this game, "Metroid Federation Force" will be available only for the Nintendo 3DS sometime in 2016.
