Miami Heat NBA 2014 News, Update: Chris Bosh Injury Another Blow to the Heat

Miami Heat and All-Star team center Chris Bosh is said to be "sidelined indefinitely" due to a strained calf, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra announced on Monday.

Bosh, who was leading Heat's victory against Utah on Saturday, experienced tightness in his left calf after the match and was benched for their home court clash with the Chicago Bulls.

"He's still sore," Spoelstra said of Bosh. "It's rest and treatment for him in the immediate future."

"Bosh missed the game against Chicago with a strained calf, and he's not sure when the injury occurred. That's troubling news. Bosh hadn't missed a game this season until Sunday, and he pointed to simple "wear and tear" as a possible reason for the strain," the Miami Herald reported. "He added that precaution and rest are the two most important things for him right now. If he tries to play through the injury, he said it could worsen and 'the muscle could tear away from the bone.'"

The Bleacher Report meanwhile wrote that the 30-year-old former Raptors star would be missing a few weeks game until the foot injury is fully patched up.

"It's disappointing," Bosh was quoted as saying by the publication.

"Usually you know when something gives and you kind of feel it over the course of a game and you can point to a specific play when you felt something tweak, or whatever, but unfortunately that didn't happen for me. I guess it's a wear and tear thing. It kind of sprung up on me, and you just have to deal with the tough times right now," Bosh added.

On related Heat news, Josh McRoberts, who incurred a torn meniscus in his right knee during their game with Phoenix last Tuesday, is reported to be in need of a surgery.

If that happens, McRoberts will miss the rest of the 2014-2016 NBA season.

"This is not a short-term thing," Spoelstra said of McRoberts' injury (via ChatSports.com). "He'll be out a while if he even does make it back this season."

"Injuries are a part of this game," the coach added. "How you respond to adversities, respond to things that are tough, that's what really reveals your collective character as a group."
