Miami Heat NBA Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Eyeing Ray Allen, Toney Douglas Leaving
All things fall apart, even for the A-Team Miami Heat. First was the disheartening departure of LeBron James to return to his home state's team Cleveland Cavaliers. Now, other key players are also rumored to leave the 2-time NBA Championship holder.
The rumors of Ray Allen switching to the Cavaliers actually started this summer. But now, latest tidbits of the alleged transfer surfaced when a reporter from Yahoo! Sports took to his Twitter to say that.
"The Cavs are also optimistic about their chances of signing free agent guard Ray Allen prior to the start of training camp, a source said," he tweeted.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel already reported a week ago that Heat seemed to have moved on from the sharp shooter considering that the team doesn't have much cap space to offer to the player other than the minimum.
True or not, fans will still have to wait until September for Ray Allen to announce his choice.
Meanwhile, latest news from the Sun-Sentinel indicated that point guard Toney Douglas is now signed to play with a Chinese Basketball Association team, the Jiangsu Dragons, for a one-year contract.
The 28-year-old Floridan was squeezed out from Heat with the drafting of Shabazz Napier, a University of Connecticut point guard, the re-signing of point guards Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole.
Toney Douglas will be Jiangsu Dragon's first overseas free-agent signing for the 2014-2015 CBA season. If remembered, former teammate and Heat center Chris "The Birdman" Andersen once played for the Chinese ball team back in 2000.
