Well-known F1 legend Michael Schumacher met a tragic accident on Dec. 29, 2013. He fell and hit his head on a rock while he was on a skiing holiday with his family at a French Alps resort in Meribel. Since then, it was reported that Schumacher had to be transported by a helicopter for a life-saving emergency surgery.

Schumacher, affectionately called Schumi by close friends, was put under a medically induced coma to help heal his head injuries. He was in medical intensive care at the University Hospital Centre in Grenoble.

It was confirmed by Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, that the F1 legend was no longer in a coma on June 6, the next year. After being out of the hospital, Schumacher was transferred to his family home near Lake Geneva. There he was treated and rehabilitated round to clock by a staff of 15 medical professionals headed by Professor Jean-Francois Payen.

She also mentioned that Schumacher planned to lie low from the public eye before his tragic accident.
