Michael Schumacher Health Condition Latest News: F1 Legend Continues Slow Path to Recovery

Former Formula One champion racer Michael Schumacher is continuing his long road to recovery after his skiing accident in 2013.

In some good news, Italian editor of "Autosprint" magazine Alberto Sabbatini, earlier this month revealed that Schumacher is not confined to his bed anymore. The racer can now sit up on a chair "in front of the windows inside his villa." Reportedly this is a core part of his current recovery plan as it helps him avoid muscle atrophy. He is also undergoing physical therapy.

The villa is overlooking the snowy peaks of the Swiss Alps on one part. On the other side, the shores of Lake Geneva can be seen. The view is good stimulation for Schumacher and will also help his recovery.

Those recent claims about Schumacher's progress have allegedly been based on people close to the family and who have seen Schumacher recently.

Recent reports also claim that Schumacher cried when he heard his family members speak, which although hearth-wrenching, is actually a good sign as it signifies that Schumacher's brain is still able to recognize his loved ones, and that he can feel strong emotions.

Although he is still unable to talk yet, the athlete can now recognize his loved ones based on his non verbal actions. Schumacher often looks into the void and is unable to move without assistance but he can respond to "external stimuli" with eye movements.

Sabbatini added that the health and well being of the racer is everyone's concern. The editor described Schumacher as a "prisoner of an immobile body" and emphasized that the developments are a sign that the racer is "alive and that he understands."

The report is great news considering Schumacher's condition several months ago. The seven-time F1 champion was in a coma due to the brain injury he suffered from the skiing accident.

Salliant has also claimed that Schumacher is on his way to recovery but it will be a "long and slow" road.
