Michael Schumacher Health Condition Latest News: Family Friend Urges Fans to Keep Up Fight With F1 Legend

One thing fans learned about Michael Schumacher, aside from the fact that he's one of the best if not the best Formula 1 driver ever, is that he didn't really put himself into the limelight. Most popular athletes thrive in the cameras and newspapers, but he was quite a private person. That's probably why his family also is requesting that the media should give him a break, at least for now as he still is recovering from the freak skiing accident in 2013.

Schumacher is recovering in their home in Lausanne, and several sources are saying that as of the moment, he still can't walk or talk. The media blackout was reportedly a request that came from his wife, Corinna.

Recently, FIA president Jean Todt, who by the way is a good friend of Schumacher, revealed some good news about the condition of the racing legend. According to him, he is "still fighting" despite several reports claiming that there hasn't been any progress.

However, there are no specific details as to what sort of improvements the German driver has so far, and that is partly attributed to the rumor that the family does not want the media to dwell on his condition.

Todt revealed the information about his friend at a media briefing several weeks ago before the Mexican Grand Prix. He said, "I see Michael very often and he is still fighting. Michael is a close friend, his family is very close to me and I am very close to them as well. We must keep him fighting with the family."

There is little doubt about the legacy of Schumacher in Formula 1 and motorsports in general. The German is a seven-time world champion in F1 and won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice. He also owns two titles with Benetton before making history with Ferrari for 11 years, producing five straight championship titles in the process.
