Michael Schumacher Health Update and News: Close Friend Believes There Is Still 'Hope' For Recovery

News about the current health condition of former F1 racing legend Michael Schumacher has been few and far between ever since he was reported as having recovered from a coma and transferred to his home in Switzerland, where he is undergoing further treatment for his full recovery. Recently, Schumacher's friend Ross Brawn revealed that he has been visiting the racing star. He also expressed "hope" that Schumacher will fully recover, according to a report in the Daily Mirror. Brawn ran the Ferrari F1 team when Schumacher was still dominating the F1 circuit.

Schumacher was seriously injured when he fell and hit his head on a rock during a skiing accident in December 2013. He was in a coma for six months, after which he was transferred to his home so that he can continue his treatment and recovery in his home. According to the report, Brawn claimed to have been keeping tabs on his friend's condition, through visits or through conversations with Schumacher's wife, who also keeps him updated. He added, "We just keep praying every day that he'll recover to a stage where… it's slow, but there's always hope."

Brawn was an important part of Schumacher's rise to racing legend status. Both men worked together for the Benetton team from 1991 to 1996. Both men also made the shift together and transferred to Ferrari in 1997, where they continued winning world title wins.

Schumacher is currently under the care of a 15-person medical team with a state of the art treatment facility right in his own home in Switzerland. According to the report, his current health care costs are estimated at £100,000 a week. It was also reported that the family had to let go of their vacation home in Norway in order to defray health care costs.

Previous reports about his condition came from his manager, Sabine Kehm, who said, "We need a long time." She also added, "He is making progress appropriate to the severity of the situation."
