Michael Schumacher News and Health Update 2016: Bunte Magazine Gets Sued for Claiming Schumi Can Move, Walk [DETAILS]

German Outlet Bunte Magazine Sued by Schumacher Family

Bunte Magazine is being sued for claiming that F1 legend Michael Schumacher can walk and move following his accident.

The magazine was printed back in December and cited their source for the claims as one of Schumacher's friends. Schumacher was involved in a serious skiing accident on Dec. 29, 2013 in the French Alps and his recovery has been slow.

The Bunte magazine reportedly claimed that Schumacher was able to move, walk and take a couple of steps on his own, Yahoo noted. Schumacher is allegedly able to raise his arms with the help of his therapists. When the issue came out, Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, debunked the claims and any rumors by saying that the German racer cannot move yet.

Kehm released a statement saying that the Bunte Magazine's issue is "irresponsible" because it did not take into account the injuries suffered by Schumacher. Fans that are eagerly waiting for Schumi's comeback may be mislead by the article instead of setting their expectations realistically.

Schumacher's Lawyer Admits Racer's Health Condition

Schumacher's Lawyer, Felix Damm, admitted to CNN the current health condition of the F1 legend. He told the outlet that Schumi could not stand even if he was propped up with the help of his therapists. The lawyer adds that he cannot make further comments regarding Schumacher's condition.

Damm spoke up in the German court as part of Schumacher's family lawsuit against the Bunte magazine with right to privacy as their argument. The verdict of the lawsuit will be decided on October. ESPN reported that the judge who handles the Schumacher - Brunte magazine case says that the ruling will favor Schumi's family. The damages they will win will reportedly be 40,000 to 100,000 Euros.

Schumacher's Terrible Accident
It has been several years since Schumacher suffered a terrible and life-threatening injury after hitting his head on a rock while skiing at the Alpine resort in Meribel. Telegraph wrote that Schumi was immediately flown to Grenoble Hospital to undergo an emergency operation.

Schumacher was put under a medically-induced coma until June 2014. He was moved to Lausanne, Switzerland to be rehabilitated. He then returned home by Sep. 2014 to his home in Geneva to be cared for by a crew of medical professionals around the clock. Medical updates regarding Schumacher are rare because his wife, Corinna, asked for a media blackout to protect their family's privacy.
