Michael Schumacher News: Racer Continues Long Road to Recovery

The media is still on the edge of their seats waiting and trying to dig up any update or information about the renowned F1 racer Michael Schumacher.

News about the fallen Schumacher shocked not only the sports community but his fans all over the world when he suffered a serious head injury while on a skiing trip with his family in France.

After the tragic accident, the champion was then airlifted to a hospital and was placed in a medically induced coma. After which, he was discharged from Grenoble to undergo further rehabilitation at the University Hospital in Lausanne. In September, Schumi was taken back to his home in Switzerland where he is now under close observation and follow-up treatment.

Recent news now indicated that while the German retired racer was currently treading his way to complete recovery, his son, Mick Jr. was reported to be trying his hands at racing.

According to a report by Motor Sports Talk, Michael's 15-year-old son spent one day in the middle of December "secretly testing a Formula 4 single-seater car at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain."

The publication further cited Austrian newspaper Osterreich saying that the young Schumacher "drove through the 120,000-seat track," the location to which is frequently used as a test facility by F1 teams including that of his father's.

"The F4 secret test may actually serve as a tryout for an F4 competition in 2016, but Mick is expected to remain in the karting circuit for one more year," the site continued.

Muckle Motorsports team owner Pete Mucke spoke with Osterreich revealing that "Mick is certainly talented." Mucke however noted that kart driving is way different than what his seven-time world champion father does.

"You cannot say absolutely that a good kart driver will be fast in a Formula One car. It is no good only having a great name as a driver, you have to be fast," Mucke said.

As often the case, Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm refused to comment on the news regarding Mick Jr.'s F4 tryouts.
