What is Michelle Obama Doing Now? Writing Post-White House Book, Looking After Her Children

Since leaving his presidential office, former U.S. President Barack Obama has been enjoying a lower profile, relaxing and spending more time with his family and friends. As for the former first lady, Michelle Obama has recently been spending more of her time in Washington, D.C.

Michelle is reportedly currently busy working on her new post-White House book while keeping an eye on her children. Her White House chief of staff, Tina Tchen, said that Michelle is focusing on her children right now while leaving enough time for her new book.

"She's got one daughter to get off to college, another is a (sophomore) in high school. All of that comes first. Now she will also be working on the book and still keeping up her engagement with the community as she always has," said Tchen.

Michelle's first foray into public service can be traced back to her D.C. public school visits, particularly in minority neighborhoods. Last month, she marked International Women's Day visiting the Cardozo Education Campus and complimenting the school's new program for recent immigrants.

Over the recent weeks, Michelle was also spotted with her husband joining some close friends at the National Gallery of Art for an exhibit of Chicago artist Theaster Gates' artworks. They have also been busy entertaining friends in their newly-decorated home in Kalorama.

Meanwhile, the Obama couple is reportedly going through a dilemma right now because of their eldest daughter, Malia. Currently, the 18-year-old young lady is in New York City on her own.

Rumor has it that Michelle is particularly worried since it is Malia's first time to leave her nest. Recently, news came out that the former first daughter attended a wild party on Martha's Vineyard and was spotted smoking pot at Lollapalooza. While some sources confirmed that she was there, there was not a lot of information on what she did during the party.
