Michelle Williams has opened up about her relationship with fellow actor Jason Segal and explained how happy she is with him. The single mother has finally found a partner who helps with raising daughter Matilda and keeps her incredibly happy.
"The other day I was out there all bundled up and the sun was shining, and I realized I was smiling in a way I hadn't in a long time. The roses in my cheeks weren't from makeup for once; it was a perfect moment," Williams told InStyle magazine.
"If people are happy about it, that makes me feel good because in my head the opposite is often true – that people fault or blame you for things. That's really painful. You wish they would just want you to be happy, for your kid to be happy, and for you to have a good life and do good work," she added.
Of course, she was talking about her daughter, Matilda, whose father, the late Heath Ledger, passed away in 2008. Much has been made about whether Williams has made too much of her time with Ledger by speaking about him quite often, but defenders have said that she has every right, given that the two shared a child.
"I've never seen her happier," a friend told People magazine in March of 2012. Since then, the two have moved in together and have been seen out with Matilda, looking happy.
"I don't want to have a girlfriend for the sake of having a girlfriend," Segal told Parade magazine last year. "I have no desire to pick a random girl. I want the right girl. There are plenty of opportunities, but I would rather have the right one."
According to Ledger's family, they still have a "most wonderful relationship" with Matilda and Michelle.
"We talk frequently and visit as often as we can. Matilda is indeed very much like her dad," his mother Sally told New Idea magazine.
It remains to be seen whether Segal and Williams' relationship will continue and blossom into marriage.
