Microsoft Band Rumors: Product Posted on Their Site Following App Store Leaks

It looks like Microsoft doesn't plan in lagging behind the new fad – wearable lifestyle gadgets. This news came up when pictures of the company's alleged fitness band were leaked on to the Mac App Store.

The first reports were cited in 9to5Mac and MacRumors. Here's a roundup of details about the purported device.

9to5Mac stated that the rumored Microsoft Band is quite very compatible as it is said to sync with Windows, OS X, or smartphones.

Further details about its compatibility revealed that while the "leaked documentation" failed to mention which particular mobile platforms it can work along with, similar apps for the wearable tech went live on the iOS App Store as well as on Google Play.

This potentially means that it will support iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices.

The publication also said that because the apps from mentioned stores consistently referred to the device as "Microsoft Band," then it is safe to assume that this could be its official name.

Mac Rumors, additionally reported that the Microsoft Band can track heart rate, steps, calories burned, as well as sleep patterns.

Moreover, users can get notifications like emails, reminder, incoming calls and texts, Facebook, Twiiter, etc. from their phones or home devices.

"Microsoft is also launching a cloud-based health service called Microsoft Health," the tech website said.

"The company also notes that–if customers want to– Microsoft Health can combine work and personal data and gather insights such as how a big meeting with the boss affects that night's sleep," the site went on to say.

Tech Crunch updated their report that Microsoft "pushed the product live on their site. The device reportedly comes in three sizes and starts at $199. Microsoft band has built-in GPS used for tracking runs and a UV sensor to measure sun exposure. It works with Windows Phone 8.1, iOS 7 and 8, and Android 4.3 – 4.4, weighs 2.1 ounces and even comes with $5 Starbucks gift card as an incentive.
