Microsoft Lumia 950 Specs, Rumors, Release Date: Upcoming High-End Device to Come Later This Year

After completely buying the mobile division of Nokia last year, Microsoft has yet to experience the success it aims for for its Windows Mobile department. The Redmond giant has even replaced the Nokia branding with its own Microsoft brand to help the phone sell in the market.

However, it seems Microsoft is going nowhere with its strategy. In a recent report, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella himself stated that the company is lacking the right flagships to compete with what the Android platform is offering.

With hundreds of phone makers around the world using Google's famous mobile operating system, Microsoft should not just be ready with its entry-level and midrange handsets, but most especially the flagship phones.

Microsoft is preparing two high-end devices, which should be announced later this year, according to Phone Arena. In the report, the two devices are named Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, following the recent trend in flagship devices.

Based on rumors, the two handsets would boast a polycarbonate casing, in contrast to what previous rumors were claiming. In the report by Windows Central, unnamed sources said that both devices would be pretty slim at around 7-8mm.

In the report, Microsoft Lumia 950 a.k.a.Talkman will boast a 5.2-inch QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, an Iris scanner, 20MP primary camera, 5MP front shooter, 3GB of RAM, and a 3,000mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the Lumia 950 XL, which is also known as Cityman, will get a bigger 5.5-inch screen with the same resolution, CPU, chipset, and camera.
