Warner Bros. has officially announced the sequel to the 2014 "Lord of the Rings" video game "Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor" titled "Middle-earth: Shadow of War."

The company has confirmed that game developer Monolith Productions is in the late stages of developing "Shadow of War." A cinematic trailer has also been released.

"Shadow of War," like its predecessor "Shadow of Mordor," is set between the events of "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings." The game sequel will pick up roughly where the original video game left off, with Talion and Celebrimbor forging a new Ring of Power that will fight against Sauron.
