And recently, it has also been revealed how much the fighters will pocket for the match.

According to Ryan O'Hara of thaboxingvoice.com, the 34-year-old Cotto is set to earn at least $30 million for this fight.

Meanwhile, Canelo will be pocketing his second-biggest payday with around $10 million – his biggest was against Floyd Mayweather back in 2013 where he picked up $12 million.

In an article released by elnuevodiario.com.ni, it claimed that: "It is expected that the current monarch of the World Boxing Council (WBC) will earn at least $30 million while Alvarez could barely see $10 million."

Rumors originally circulated that the two will be involved in a 60/40 split, but with the figures already being released, it appears that it is closer to a 75/25 split between the two fighters.

Despite Alvarez being on the upside and Cotto considered as on the tail-end of his career, the latter has a more decorated resume and was always likely to command how the transaction goes.

Furthermore, Cotto is going to be defending his titles as his WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight Championships are on the line.

The fight is going to be in a 155-pound catch-weight.

Although there is a great gap between the money the fighters will be getting, the level of anticipation and excitement is at an all-time high as Cotto and his 40-4 record will try to hand Canelo only his second loss in 48 fights.
