Miguel Jontel Pimentel was left red-faced during a performance at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday after he accidentally landed on two female fans after trying to leap across the front row.
The Grammy award-winning singer, 27, was performing his hit single "Adorn" on stage at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena when his high energy performance went horribly wrong. Dressed in a white suit and black boots, Miguel attempted to take a flying leap over the heads of unsuspecting crowd members when he landed on his bottom, subsequently kicking one woman and landing on another.
"Got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay," a relieved Miguel later tweeted.
The phrase "Did Miguel" later began trending worldwide on social networking site Twitter, with concerned fans questioning whether any crowd members were seriously injured.
"Yes they are absolutely OK! He was dancing and hugging them post jump," a Billboard representative onsite in Las Vegas told Mashable in an email.
Despite the incident, Miguel did not stop his performance, but he was seen embracing at least one of the women while still belting out his tune. Another woman involved in the incident was seen laughing off his awkward landing while standing alongside the R&B singer and chatting to a reporter.
Miguel's failed leap was not the only eyebrow raising incident to occur on Sunday. Justin Bieber, 19, was met with a chorus of boos as he accepted the fan-voted Milestone Award, which prompted a response from the singer.
"I'm 19 years old. I think I'm doing a pretty good job. It should really be about the music — should be about the craft that I'm making," Bieber told the star-studded audience. "This is not a gimmick. I'm an artist, and I should be taken seriously, and all this other bull should not be spoken of."
