The "Jersey Shore" star Mike Sorrentino has responded to rumors Wednesday of his being checked into rehab.

"Do NOT Believe Everything You Hear, Especially from TMZ," said Sorrentino, also known as "The Situation."

Rumors sparked earlier this week that the MTV reality star entered a rehabilitation center for treatment of substance abuse problems.

Sorrentino's representative neither confirmed nor denied the reports, saying, "Michael Sorrentino ("The Situation") has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule."

"We are not confirming any reports of any substance abuse … that is not correct," the rep quickly added.

With season five of "The Jersey Shore" ending Wednesday, sources close to Mike "The Situation" said the reality star's condition worsened as the season went on, according to TMZ.

Sorrentinto "acted paranoid" on the set, according to the insider, who noted that the star's substance abuse spun out of control as season five went on.

The season revealed "The Situation" displaying odd behavior, including a scene where "Jersey Shore" cast was camping while Mike was seen sweating profusely and acting anxious.

MTV recently announced that season six of "The Jersey Shore" will begin taping this summer. No announcements have been made on whether Sorrentino will participate.

"Getting in amazing shape for season 6," posted Sorrentino on Twitter earlier this week.

On Twitter, "Jersey Shore" fans as well as critics are reacting to news of "The Situation" entering rehab.

"Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino rehab update: Doctors have weened him down to one gym visit and four spray tans a day; they do his laundry," wrote Petee.

"Poor Mike," wrote Stef.

The cast of "Jersey Shore" has seen many changes in the past year. "Snooki," or Nicole Polizzi, announced that she was not only pregnant, but engaged earlier this year.

"Happy to finally share the news with my fans," posted Snookie on her Twitter account. "Thanks to all my fans for the congrats!! I love you all."
