The daughter of two ministers who started her singing career in church, turned heads and seats on Monday's episode of the NBC hit music talent series "The Voice."

Christian Aguilera and Cee Lo Green both spun their chairs around in the middle of 22 year-old Tamara Chauniece's performance of Beyonce's "1+1" and both lobbied hard to convince her to join their team.

"Both my mom and my dad were ministers too," said Green."I ended up being a sinner. But it's not too late, you can save me."

"I can," Chauniece joked. "Come to Jesus."

Green shot back, "Jesus look good."

Despite Aguilera being the first to turn her chair around and enthusiastically praise Chauniece's voice, the aspiring singer picked Green because she "felt it in [her] gut."

Chauniece grew up in Wharton Texas and told The Wharton Journal-Spectator last month as a kid she tried to "mimic" the singing in church. She also sang in the church choir.

At home, she practiced on her stuffed animals.

"I'd line all of my teddy bears up," she said, "preach a sermon to them and then sing a song."

While she released a Gospel EP at the age of 11 and another at 18, Chauniece put her music career on hold to focus on college and saw "The Voice" as a way to pursue her passion again.

Although Chaniece overcame the "blind" auditions, she must still pass the battle round, knockouts and live performance, the latter rounds being where contestants are subject to the public's vote. The winner receives a recording contract.
