Catonsville, MD -- Global Compassion Ministries along with other ministries including Sunshine Ministries served up to 25,000 people with no medical care by raising funds to construct a clinic.

Ted Fraker addresses the lack of quality health care in Haiti and other impoverished sections of the Dominican Republic. Together with his wife, Leota, he sacrificed his vacation time to work with children and adults in Haiti. They are hoping to raise as much as $20,000 from the sale of a CD entitled “The Reach of Compassion.” He said it costs as much as $40,000 to build a hospital.

"It's one of the most exciting things we've ever done," said Fraker, director of Key Point Services, a mental health clinic on Rolling Road in Catonsville.

"We are set to open the clinic this summer," he said.

"The hospital will take longer to build, but we are already collecting equipment," he said.

Fraker is planning to take a team of medical professionals to the Dominican Republic town of Cristobal where as many as half of the children under age 6 in Cristobal suffer from malnutrition and parasitic infections.

"Everything you do makes a difference," Fraker said. "I grew up poor, so I know what it's like not to be able to get medical care.

"There has to be a reach of compassion to people who can't get the things they need. This is a good and humane thing to do," he continued. "It makes a difference."
