Miranda Lambert Cries on Stage Because of Soldier's Touching Message; "The House That Built Me" Serves as Song of Hope

Written on the sign was a modest message from a fan who showed gratitude and said he had been listening to the artist's song every night, while on three combat tours.

Miranda Lambert breaks down in tears in the middle of her August 19 concert in Hartford, Connecticut when she sees a fan holding up a heartwarming sign while she was singing her hit "The House That Built Me".

To show their gratitude and support, fans usually troop their idol's concerts to wave banners and signs that bear special messages. And it is not unusual for singers to hear fans say that their song has brought comfort to them as they faced trials in life.

But this was different. When Lambert caught sight of the fan with the sign, she stopped singing and went over the area where the fan was. She took the sign and showed it to everyone. It was truly an emotional moment not just for Lambert, but for the concert-goers as well.

It turns out that the fan is a member of the army. And his sign reads, "3 combat tours…your voice was the last thing I heard every night. Thank you."

The moment proved to be too much for Lambert that she was not able to finish the song anymore. But the fans were more than happy to do it for her, which made the whole moment more amazing.

"The House That Built Me"—a song of hope

The song "The House That Built Me" tells of a person's struggle of not being able to go home time and again.

On its chorus, emphasis is given to the person's brokenness that is starting to heal. Anyone who is going through a lot and will get to hear the song for the first time will be encouraged to hold on a little longer.

The song was written by Allen Shamblin and Tom Douglas. It was released in March 2010 as part of Lambert's album, "Revolution".

Originally, the song wassupposed to be recorded by Blake Shelton. However, when Lambert heard the song, she immediately requested the song to be part of her album.

The song became a hit, climbing to the 20th spot in June 2010.

Lambert also performed the song during the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 18, 2010.
She received an award for the same song during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on February 13, 2011.
