Miranda Lambert: 'It's Okay to be Fat and Lazy Sometimes'

Country music star Miranda Lambert has given women the approval to be "fat and lazy sometimes." It's part of a new interview with Self magazine, which is one of many magazines dedicated to fitness and wellness.

"It's OK to be fat and lazy sometimes," Lambert told Self. She has often come under fire for her curvaceous body that doesn't conform to traditional standards. Yet she insists that she is incredibly happy with her looks.

"I won't give up what I enjoy to look perfect. I want to find a happy medium between feeling good about my body and still having a beer and some barbecue," she said.

Just a few months ago, though, Lambert said that she wasn't feeling her best and noticed a lack of energy while she was performing.

"I asked Blake [Shelton], 'Dude, why didn't you tell me I got fat?' He said, 'That would go over like a lead balloon. It's not my job to tell you you're fat. It's my job to tell you you're beautiful.'" Shelton and Lambert have been married since May 2011 and have an open, honest relationship.

Lambert decided to start exercising and eating better in order to increase her energy, which she needs for her performances.

"I absolutely hate exercise," she revealed. "I love it afterward, of course. But my trainer is so nice, I want to do push-ups to please him!"

She manages to eat healthy whenever possible while on the road.

"I'll have a grilled-chicken salad waiting for me. And except for almonds and bananas, I don't keep snacks on the bus. I don't want Cheetos anywhere around me."

Lambert has enjoyed much success throughout her career. She recently achieved her fourth No. 1 hit with the single "Over You," which she wrote with husband Shelton.

"I think the key is we sort of pick and choose what we want to do together as artists because we don't ever want the business to get in the way of our personal relationship," she said on her website.

She has won the Country Music Association award for vocalist of the year twice, as well as the same award for the Academy of Country Music.
