Missing Baby Lisa Irwin: No Sign of Missing Mo. Girl One Month After Disappearance

The 11-month-old Kansas City, Mo., girl known as baby Lisa Irwin was last seen by her family one month ago today.

Initially, according to 25-year-old Deborah Bradley, the mother of the little girl, Lisa was last seen at 10:30 p.m., during the evening of Oct. 3 when she was put to bed. Bradley then told police that sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 4 a.m. on Oct.4, when the little girl's father, 29-year-old Jeremy Irwin, returned home from work, the little girl was found to be missing.

The police commenced an all-points bulletin search for the little girl. According to Kansas City police spokesman Captain Steven Young, an Amber Alert was put in place but was canceled 12 hours later due to a technicality, which characterized the search after a number of hours as having lost its sense of urgency.

In those early hours following the report of Lisa's disappearance, at least 80 police officers and federal agents conducted an extensive search around the home and outlying community, including through a heavily wooded area close to the house of the little girl.

Later, Bradley informed police that she was drunk during the evening when her daughter disappeared and that she had last seen Lisa at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, instead of later at 10:30 p.m.

It soon appeared that the relationship between investigators and the parents of the 11-month-old girl began to change. On Wednesday, Oct. 6, Young reported that the parents were being cooperative with authorities. On Thursday, Oct. 7, the assessment of the parents had changed, when police claimed they had become uncooperative.

Over the next days and weeks, issues involving the parents, the police, and the parent’s attorneys began to take center stage, as charges and counter charges regarding interrogations and criticism over the conduct of police searches became matters of acrimony.

There has been a number of "potentially tangible" leads such as the baby's uncle, and an individual reportedly seen carrying a baby, even a man caught on a surveillance video late one night, as he appeared to step from a thicket of trees, all have failed to point to the little girl.

In addition to these known examples, the police have reportedly pursued over 1,100 tips and utilized thousands of man hours, but, so far, nothing substantial has materialized concerning the whereabouts of the child.

Lisa has blue eyes and blond hair, is about 30 inches tall and weighs between 26 and 30 pounds.
