Missouri Pastor Charged With Third Degree Assault and Stalking

A Missouri pastor was charged for third-degree assault and stalking in Fredericktown on Wednesday.

Carl M. Cureton, 69, functions as Senior Pastor at the local Calvary Temple Church and was charged with two class A misdemeanors and a criminal summons last week. Despite his circumstance, Cureton plans to continue to serve at his church.

"I am aware of the allegations and I'm trying to get this resolved as soon as possible," said Cureton.

The alleged victim in the case claims to have been harassed by the pastor for several years and also stated that he grabbed and kissed her on the mouth without consent on one occasion. She held back from reporting the incidents to prevent backlash in the community. She also claims Cureton came to her place of employment where he watched her work and requested that she walk around with him. He also grabbed her, rubbed her palm and made inappropriate statements while talking about God.

He even entered the "employee only" area where she was located and started to rub her shoulders. Cureton eventually leaned down, put his arms around her and hugged her. During the instance, she jumped up and told him that she didn't appreciate his rudeness. He then allegedly grabbed her and kissed her on the mouth.

Cureton will be defended by Attorney Dan Fall of the law firm Schapp, Fall, Silvey, Reid & Bollinger, LLC. The hearing has not been set at this time. The case is currently assigned to Judge Robin Fulton; however, prosecutors have already filed a motion for a change of judge. If convicted Cureton faces possible jail time.

The case was originally reported by The Daily Journal Online.
