'Modern Family' Season 6 Spoilers: Episode 16 Plot Recap for 'Connection Lost'
This week's episode of "Modern Family" was shot entirely with iPhones and other Apple devices, and the digital medium offered a fresh way to tell a story which many families who rely too much on technology to connect with each other can surely relate to.
The episode, titled "Connection Lost," takes place on Claire Dunphy's Mac laptop. As she sits in an airport waiting for her flight home, she tries to reach Haley after a big fight. Claire begins to get anxious as she can't get a hold of her daughter, so she tries to communicate with other members of her family through video chat in hopes of getting a clue where Haley is before she boards the plane.
In typical Claire fashion, she multi tasks while looking for Haley. She chats with Phil, checks on her Yahoo! account, and visits her Pinterest boards all at the same time. Meanwhile, Phil has no idea where Haley is.

Claire checks her Facebook account and sees that her daughter has not accepted her friend request. Frantic, she calls Jay and Mitchell, hoping that they have seen her or heard from her.
Claire has one more trick up her sleeve as she uses her fake Facebook account to check on Haley, and she finds out that her daughter has changed her status to "married." She tracks Haley's phone, which shows that she's in Las Vegas at a wedding chapel.
Claire thinks that Haley might be pregnant since she got their fight on video, which involves Haley talking about being nauseated while craving peanut butter and pickles. Now the entire family assumes that she's pregnant and that she ran off with Andy to get married. Moreover, a package arrives for Haley, and Phil opens it, only to find a copy of "What to Expect When You're Expecting."
Everyone panics, and Jay becomes the voice of reason as he comforts Claire and compares Andy to Phil, so Haley getting married to Andy might not be such a bad thing.
Finally, Claire manages to get a hold of Haley, only to find out that she's been home all this time. Phil, too engrossed in a video game amidst all the frantic search for Haley, never thought about knocking on his daughter's door. And it turns out that Haley's Facebook status was just a joke and it's also revealed that she left her phone in Andy's car before he went to Las Vegas to attend a friend's wedding.
"Modern Family" airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
