'Modern Family' Season 6 News: Episode 10 'Haley's 21st Birthday' Recap
Last Wednesday's episode of "Modern Family" features Haley as she celebrates her 21st birthday in a bar with her family, while Alex, Manny, and Luke babysit Lily and they have a difficult time trying to answer her question: "where do babies come from?"
Haley decides to celebrate her birthday in a bar, and while it seems out of character for her to be going out with her family rather than with her friends, she explains, "Yes, I'm a huge dork for celebrating my 21st with my family, but my mom was crazy excited to go to a bar with me, or just go to a bar."
Claire, Gloria, Cam and Mitchell go to the bar with her, and on their way in, Claire insisted that the staff should card Haley, and she flashes her fake ID at them because she just got used to doing it so often. Claire thinks that now that Haley is adult, she wants her daughter to think of her not just as her mother, but also as her friend.

Meanwhile, Cam and Mitchell are so excited when they thought that a group of girls who were having a bachelorette party at the bar wanted to hang out with them. They approach the group to dance, and as it turns out, the girls didn't want to dance with them at all.
This leads to Cam and Mitchell thinking whether they're still the young, hip couple that they think they are. They decide to dance anyway, and they have this hilarious conversation on the dance floor about their moves. Cam says that he can "raise the roof and do the cabbage patch" while Mitchell says that he can "do the Single Lady hand thing,"
"Yeah, but put your neck into it or you just look like the Queen waving," said Cam.
Meanwhile, Jay and Phil are arguing on how to get the best deal for Haley's birthday present— a car. Phil says that Jay's haggling technique is outdated.
Alex, Luke and Manny are babysitting Lily at home when she asks them, "where do babies come from." Luke tries to explain things his way, but Manny stops him from doing so. Alex flatly refuses to join in on the discussion.
Back at the bar, Haley reveals that what she really wants is a tattoo for her birthday. While Gloria supports her, her mother is not too sure about it, until Haley suggests matching tattoos for them. Claire is touched and gets the tattoo, but when it was time for Haley to get hers done, she backs out.
"Modern Family" airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
