Mom Sacrifices Body, Becomes Human Speed Bump to Save Twin Toddlers in Runaway Car (VIDEO)
With her 2-year-old twins buckled in the back seat, Mindy Tran backed her Honda into her garage, put it in park and got out to lock the front door of her new apartment in Lawrence, Mass. on March 6. However, the 22-year-old mother was shocked to see the car start rolling down the steep driveway into a busy street.
"I was like, 'What is going on?' And I see my daughter sitting there in the backseat and of course my first instinct is, 'I have to push the car back into the driveway,'" she told WCVB.
Tran threw herself under the 4-door Accord to slow it down while neighbors got in and stopped it. Firefighters arrived and lifted the car off of her.
Her sacrifice left Tran unable to walk with a crushed left knee and dislocated right leg, and a long recovery ahead. However, it was all worth it.
"It was all for my kids. I'm just glad my kids are fine," she said.
