Monopoly Game Piece to Change: Boot vs Cat? Vote Now

Hasbro has announced that one of its iconic Monopoly game pieces will be retired based on a public vote.

Out with the old and in with new for Monopoly game players. Hasbro has announced a new vote that will allow players to decide on which tokens are their favorite in the game. For the least favorite token, it will be an indefinite jail sentence.

Don't worry Scotty fans; the dog is going nowhere based on the most recent Facebook results. So far the pedigree, with over 61,000 votes, is winning the race with the classic car not far behind. But with only 6,389 votes, it appears that the boot may be getting kicked out of the game; the thimble is second to last.

"Other shoe has been missing since 1935," says the prosecution against the boot.

It's true about the shoe: it is missing its right hand man. And perhaps players would rather have a cat instead? Or maybe a robot to signify the new age? After players decided on which piece to retire, a new lineup of pieces will be offered; the lineup also includes a diamond ring, a guitar, and a helicopter.

"The tokens are one of the most iconic parts of the Monopoly game and we know that people are emotionally tied to their favorite one," Eric Nyman, senior vice president and global brand leader for Hasbro Gaming, said. "When we decided to replace one of the tokens in the game, we knew we had to involve our fans in the process.

"We can't wait to see which iconic piece will 'go to jail,'" he added in the statement, "and which new token the fans will choose to become part of one of the world's most popular games.'"
