The Bible League proclaims another news of victory of Project Philip, this time through the joint work with other largest evangelical denomination in North Sumatra, Indonesia.
“Of the 3,000 affiliated churches, 2,000 are using our Project Philip ministry materials,” says the Bible League's Director of Southeast Asia Ministry. “There is a huge shortage of Bibles in this denomination of three million members— only one out of six have a Bible.”
The Bible League reports that their effort to eliminate shortage of the Bibles was given a boost by an agreement to extend the project with the Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP), a member of the Lutheran World Federation and an affiliate of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Soon more Bibles will be printed in the Batak language along with accompanying Bible study materials. So far, 30,000 Batak Bibles have been printed.
The Bible League will be adapting the project to the HKBP’s organizational structure increasing the effectiveness of the project within the nation’s culture in delivering the Bibles to all the churches.
“We will also be offering tools for them to evangelize the lost and disciple their own members,” says the Ministry Director.
