'Mortal Kombat X' May Get New Story DLC

The creator of "Mortal Kombat X" has dropped a hint the fighting game may be getting a new story in the form of a DLC that will introduce new characters.

NetherWorld's Ed Boon, "Mortal Kombat X" creator, released a hint on his Twitter account the latest installment in the series may soon be getting a DLC for a new story with all-new characters.

Responding to a fan's question on his social media account, Boon mentioned there is likely to be a "Story Pack" coming soon, but did not give out any details on its release date, story arc, or characters.

Currently in the game, there are a number of non-playable characters appearing in Story Mode, including Baraka, Bo'Rai Cho, Frost, Fujin, Frost, Kabal, Li, Mei, Rain, Sareena, Sindel, Smoke, and Stryker.

According to IGN, the game's modders are working on getting the non-playable fighters to playable level for the game's PC version. Baraka, Rain, and Sindel previously non-playable characters that players can fight but not control, have already been endowed with their own special movesets, and speculations have emerged the upcoming story DLC will have most, if not all of the new characters in playable mode.

Videogamer has also reported the new story pack DLC will include Jason Vorhees, Tanya, Tremor, and the Predator, as well as a free character skin as a post-launch freebie for players who have yet to purchase single pack downloadable content for "Mortal Kombat X."

One of the best selling games in the series, "Mortal Kombat X" was released Tuesday last week for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with an Android version launched today. The game is due out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer.
