'Mortal Kombat X' News: Tanya DLC Coming in June

A new character in "Mortal Kombat X," Tanya, will be arriving via its own DLC in early June, according to the game's creator, Ed Boon. Boon recently took to Twitter to share the good news to "Mortal Kombat" fans, who have been all but quiet about wanting to see new characters they can play in the game.

Responding to a fan's earlier tweet, Boon shared a picture of the upcoming character, accompanied with a rhyme to boot: "She's koming soon, In early June, Or my name ain't Boon." Tanya is a character that was introduced in "Mortal Kombat IV." She is coming back again to "Mortal Kombat X." Although Boon did not specify a date, his announcement at least gives the game's fan some idea on the release window of the DLC.

The character of Tanya, according to a report in Cinema Blend, is a worshipper of Shinook, but is said to have been allied with other bad guys in the series. In "Mortal Kombat X," she is allied with Mileena. Her skills are in acrobatic fighting and she can use fire magic to make her blows even more lethal. In some games, she has the power to be invisible. And like other characters in the game, she comes in three variations that players can choose from: Kobu Jutsu, Dragon Naginata and Pyromancer.

She will part of "The Klassic Pack #1" which includes "retro skins" for series veterans Sonya, Kano and Liu Kang. Players may buy them as a pack, but will likely be available individually.

This pack is the second character pack released for the game, the first one being "The Ultimate Horror Pack" which included the new Jason Voorhees character and skins for Vampiress Mileena, Kraken Reptile and Pharaoh Ermac.

The developer is planning to bring two more DLC packs, each introducing a character and a trio of skins. For gamers to get early access to all the four character packs, they may just get the $30 Kombat Pack, according to a report in GameSpot. The report also notes that players who do not want to pay for any new characters may just wait for the character's appearance in a challenge tower of the game, as was the case of Jason Voorhees after his character pack was released.
