'Mortal Kombat X' Release Date on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 News: Spawn and Predator to Be Playable Characters?

Two popular movie characters are apparently heading towards the upcoming fighting video game "Mortal Kombat X" by NetherRealm Studios.

Two separate reports indicated that Spawn, the comic book character later on adapted to a film, and Predator, from the "Predator" science-fiction franchise, are coming over to join the ranks of Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ermac, Kano, Kung Lao and among others in the newest Mortal Kombat game installment.

According to IGN.com, who cited a report from GamerFitNation.com, comic series creator Todd McFarlane has already said "yes" to the studio for the inclusion of the demonic anti-hero into the one-on-one fighting game.

The site however noted that the deal has yet to be officially confirmed with McFarlane saying: "I don't know if they're ever gonna use it. They just might squat on it."

An unknown source for VideoGamer.com has stated that Predator will be included as a playable character in forthcoming June DLC pack of the game. The trophy hunting sentient humanoid will also be joined by Colonel Al Dillon, who was played by actor Carl Weathers in the original sci-fi movie.

It was also rumored that Weathers has allegedly offered his likeness to be used in the game.

This won't be the first time that Mortal Kombat features guest characters from other fictional universes. In 2011, "God of War" lead character Kratos and "Nightmare on Elm Street's" Freddie Krueger had appeared in the game.

For the meantime, Mortal Kombat X is slated to launch on Sony's PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360, and on PC this coming April 14, 2015.
