Moto E (Gen 2) Release Date, Rumors: Motorola's Budget Phone Gets a Refresh

Recent item from the tech rumor mill now indicates that the mobile phone company Motorola is working on a successor to its popular budget Moto E smartphone, which as expected, will be called the Moto E (Gen 2), according to reports.

A Greek website, Techmaniacs.gr, who claims to have been in possession with the alleged Moto E 2, said that there isn't much to be expected with the iteration, except perhaps for the display.

The website also stated that the handset can be expected to hit the shelves "soon enough."

TechRadar.com meanwhile wrote that the rumored Moto E 2 will basically have the same internal specs with that of the original Moto G. This could lead to mean that the 2nd-generation Moto E will have a Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB worth of RAM.

Additional preliminary specifications also suggested that the alleged device will have a 4.5-inch QHD 540x960 pixel resolution display, a 5MP primary camera with LED flash and an LTE connectivity option.

Design-wise, it will bear the same look as the former with a thick body build but will still offer a good amount of grip to the user.

The site even went on to declare that the purported Moto E iteration will run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box.

The report also refers to the price saying that the upcoming sequel device will carry a "very low price" tag.

NDTV Gadgets, who was also able to pick up the story, reminded readers that "nothing is official yet," and that the "leaks" should be taken with a grain of salt.
