Moto X2 and Moto 360 to Have the Same Release Date

The Moto X2 also known as the X+1 and the Moto 360 smartwatch could both have an August release date.

There is no official confirmed date at this time, however, the watch was unveiled at this year's Google I/O so an official launch cannot be too far away. It would also make sense to launch it together with the Moto X2 since it acts as an accessory to the handset. They are both expected to hit stores before the end of the summer. This would also keep Motorola in step with its normal roll out schedule for the smartphone.

The Moto X2 was recently spotted in a video that was posted by TK Tech news and features a device covered in layers of plastic to hide any identifying marks. The site claims this is a Verizon test version of the new Moto X since it features some of the carrier's bloatware.

The video also reveals that the new model will feature a 1080p display and thinner bezel. It is currently rumored to be called the Moto X+1.

The new model was also seen in Motorola's Moto Maker by a German mobile blog known as MobiFlip. Motorola removed the listing, however, the blog was able to capture a screenshot of it before that happened.

Another report pointed to the Moto X2 release date being in the summer 2014 as Motorola hinted at this during this year's Mobile World Congress at a Q&A session. They said "the next version of Moto X" will arrive sometime in "late summer." Motorola also plans to expand availability of its current smartphone lineup and the Moto Maker tool for its customers. Motorola will bring it to Europe and Mexico.

The company also plans to stick with Android as its primary OS. It also confirmed that the original Moto X will be released in India and Australia during the next few weeks.
