“With its razor-thin design, jam packed features, and blazing speed, the Motorola Droid Razr is easily one of the year’s top Android smartphones,” said CNet’s Bonne Cha.

Other smartphones that topped CNet’s list include the Motorola Droid Bionic, Motorola Photon 4G, and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The Motorola Droid Razr launched Nov 11. It is currently the world’s thinnest smartphone at 7.1mm thickness. The device’s slim design makes the phone more appealing, according to CNet. It also has a lightweight design and is water and scratch resistant.

It sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, Verizon 4G/LTE speeds, and plenty of multimedia features, corporate and government made security, WebTop functionality and decent battery life.

Some of the cons listed by the website include the smartphone’s size being slightly too big making it awkward for small handed people to handle. CNet also disliked the fact that the Droid Razr’s battery is not removable, and they expected better picture to come from the device’s 8-megapixel camera.

The iPhone 4S received praise for its 8-megapixel camera that records in 1080p HD, along with including a gyro inside it to assist with focus. It helped iPhone 4S to occupy the second spot on CNet’s top smartphones of 2011.

Apple’s choice to keep the body of the iPhone 4 the same for the next generation phone hurt the 4S's chances of beating the Droid Razr.
