Motorola Moto 360 Release Date Late September 2014, Android's Only Chance Against Apple iWatch

Smartwatches have been around for a fair amount of time and the market for it isn't unheard of. What's surprising however, is how Motorola plans on approaching it.

Motorola's Moto 360 will be the first of the company's Android-based smartwatch, but it will be the only one up against the impending release of Apple's iWatch. It separates itself from the rest of the square-faced Android Wear by introducing a round-face type design.

Motorola has already announced the smartwatch alongside the Moto X+1 and the Moto G successor with a probable late September release. As for the price, the company is retailing the watch at $250 in the United States.

Compared with the LG G Watch at $230 and the Samsung Gear Live at $200, it would initially seem that Motorola will be having problems getting some customers to buy it. The premium price isn't all surprising though as the Moto 360 comes with the Sapphire Glass protecting the screen and Qi wireless charging.

However, the Moto 360 may not have serious trouble finding buyers since it offers the convenience of having notifications offloaded to the watch from the phone. This is appealing to users who would not prefer having to take out their phones whenever a notification is received.

What's more, the Moto 360 isn't just compatible with Motorola smartphones. The smartwatch can be synced with any device which uses the Android OS, may it be a Samsung smartphone or an Asus tablet. As long as the device runs Android, the Moto 360 can be used with it.

The Moto 360 will have to hold off against the Apple iWatch but it already looks like it's set for the defense with its outstanding features, impressive specs, and reasonable premium price.
