Motorola Moto X vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs Review: Price, Features Comparison

Motorola stepped up to the smartphone challenge when it announced its Moto X two years ago. The smartphone, which has an innovative design and features, looks as if it's ready to take on its toughest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Design:
The Moto X has an arched back which makes it very comfortable to hold. It has a dimpled back, compared to the smooth surface of the Galaxy S4. The phone measures 5.09 x 2.57 x 0.41 inches and weighs 4.59 ounces. The Moto X comes in black and white and can be personalized with more colorful covers and back plates.

Meanwhile, the Samsung phone sticks with its tried and true formula when it comes to design. It has a glossy back and comes in black and white. The phone measures 5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches and weighs 4.59 ounces.

Features:
When it comes to screen size, the Samsung phone has the advantage as it comes with a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and pixel density of 441ppi. The Moto X has a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1290 x 720 and pixel density of 316ppi.

The Motorola phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro dual core chip set with two digital signal processors which Motorola claims helps keep power consumption low. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has the 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad core processor.

The Moto X comes with 16GB internal storage which cannot be expanded, due to the lack of a microSD card slot. The Galaxy S4's memory can be expanded up to 64GB.

As for the phones' camera, the Samsung handset has the advantage as it comes with a 13MP rear-facing shooter compared to the Moto X's 10MP rear camera. Both devices are equipped with a 2MP front facing camera.

Price:
Off contract, the Samsung Galaxy S4 costs $546 while the Moto X costs $299.
